11 Oct Homemade Lemon Lip Scrub
Winter is hard on the skin. The cold and wind play a big part in dry scaly skin. This delicious, hydrating and refreshing scrub is perfect for achieving a luxurious glow. It also gives your moisturizer a chance to penetrate freshly exfoliated skin. I like to keep a glass jar of this in the shower for a quick scrub at the start of my day.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Mix these ingredients together to make a sugary paste. This scrub can be used for your whole face. I recommend always trying a small patch first to make sure your skin reacts well. Use a soft bristle toothbrush or fingers to apply the scrub. Use soft circular motions across your lips and/or face. Do not over rub, take it slow for the first try. You can always go back again after rinsing. Rinse with water and apply your favorite lip balm afterward, I am on an argan oil kick and use that every chance I get, for soft n’ silky lips.
Why these ingredients are effective.
Coconut Oil = Vitamin E & K, polyphenols are anti-aging, & fatty acids that moisturize without breakouts
Raw Honey = natural antibacterial, amino acids that moisturize. Raw is better because these properties have not been altered
Raw Sugar = produces glycolic acid/alpha hydroxy which exfoliates and stimulates collagen production – anti-aging
Lemon Juice = Vitamin C & citric acid brighten skin, scars, and exfoliates.
